KGM Motors Launches New Torres SUV: Rugged and Versatile Option for UK Customers

KGM Torres SUV to launch in the UK imminently

KGM Motors, formerly known as Ssangyong, is set to launch the new Torres SUV in the UK. This marks the completion of the brand’s rebranding process. The rugged-styled SUV will be available in both internal-combustion and electric powertrains. The combustion-powered model will be equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, while the electric version, called the Torres EVX, will offer a more futuristic look. The EVX will have improved performance compared to its petrol counterpart, with a single motor delivering 201bhp and 250lb ft of torque. The Torres is packed with features, including dual 12.3-inch displays, advanced safety technology, and a spacious interior. Prices for the Torres are yet to be announced, but it is expected to be positioned between the Korando and Rexton models, with the electric version potentially nearing the £40,000 mark.

KGM Motors, formerly known as Ssangyong, is bringing some excitement to the SUV market with the imminent launch of their new Torres model. This marks the end of the brand’s transformation in the UK and promises to offer customers a rugged and versatile option. The Torres will be available in both internal-combustion and electric powertrains, giving buyers more choices to suit their preferences and environmental concerns.

The combustion-powered Torres inherits the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine from its sibling, the Korando. This powertrain delivers a respectable 161bhp and 207lb ft of torque, allowing for a decent acceleration time of 0-62mph in 10.8 seconds. Initially, the petrol version of the Torres will come with front-wheel drive, but four-wheel-drive models will be introduced later in the summer.

On the other hand, the EVX version of the Torres embraces a more futuristic look and packs an impressive punch. With a single motor generating 201bhp and 250lb ft of torque, the electric Torres outperforms its combustion counterpart. Its 73.4kWh battery provides a range of 287 miles, making it a suitable option for those looking for an electric SUV with ample mileage capacity. The EVX also features a striking LED light bar that adds to its contemporary appearance.

Inside the Torres, both the combustion and electric models boast a technology-packed cabin. Dual 12.3-inch displays dominate the interior, with one serving as an infotainment touchscreen offering Apple Carplay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring capabilities, while the other functions as an instrument panel. However, the physical climate controls have been removed from the Torres, with these functions integrated into the infotainment screen’s menu.

In terms of safety, the Torres does not disappoint. It comes equipped with a wide range of safety features as standard, including lane-keeping assistance, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera. KGM Motors claims that the Torres has the highest level of structural safety in its class, with the chassis being composed of 81% high-tensile steel.

The Torres is expected to fit neatly into KGM’s revised trim-level structure for its passenger car line-up. The pricing details are yet to be announced, but it is anticipated that the Torres will be positioned between the Korando and Rexton models. For those interested in the electric version, the EVX may come with a higher price tag, potentially reaching closer to £40,000. This pricing aligns with KGM’s strategy of offering competitive options at different price points, catering to a wide range of customers.

The introduction of the Torres SUV with its distinctive style and powertrain options adds a new dimension to KGM’s line-up. Whether customers opt for the internal-combustion or electric version, they can expect a capable and well-equipped SUV that combines style, performance, and safety. With the Torres, KGM Motors is ready to make a statement in the SUV market and capture the attention of customers looking for a rugged and versatile vehicle.
